Graag nodig ik je uit voor de Opening in Huis der Zotheid kunstpodium. We presenteert werk van Ruth Horstmanshoff / Marije Rat / Vera Harmsen. De tentoonstelling wordt geopend door Armeni Tovmasjan. Leuk als je er bij kan zijn!
Opening: 9 april van 17.00 – 20.00 uur
Finissage: 1 mei van 17.00 – 20:00 uur.
Donderdag en vrijdag van 11:00 – 18:00 uur

Ruth Horstmanshoff
In mijn sculpturen en installaties onderzoek ik ritme, herhaling en breuklijnen – momenten waarop het persoonlijke door het collective heen scheurt. Als Rotterdamse beeldend kunstenaar werk ik met draad, papier en klei om de spanning tussen uniformiteit en individualiteit tastbaar te maken.
Mijn werk bevraagt onze verhouding tot de groep: zijn we niet allemaal uitzonderingen, terwijl we toch ergens bij willen horen?
Met repetitieve vormen creëer ik een ogenschijnlijke orde waarin juist de kleine verschuiving en imperfectie het individu zichtbaar maken. In die subtiele of scherpe breuklijn spreekt het werk over wie wij zijn, samen en apart.

Marije Rat
Ik schrijf dit als therapie, heb geen kritiek op mij. Geen alien die me gezelschap houdt. Dit is wat ze ‘alleen’ noemen want ik zie niet, iemand die dit begrijpt.
Mijn kunst ontstaat omdat ik een vegan ben, een vrouw, bepaalde emoties heb, onderzoekende ben in het veld van Spiritualiteit, het veld van Gerechtigheid, de wereld binnenin mijn buik.
Waarom breng ik het naar buiten? Omdat deze samenleving wel wat gebroken spiegels kan gebruiken.

Vera maakt samengestelde beelden/assemblages van object trouvé, met eigen toevoeging.
Ze laten je nadenken over vorm en de betekenis die wij aan de dingen geven.
Vaak werkt ze gedurende een periode aan een bepaald thema (met poëtische titels).
Tevens maakt ze olieverfschilderijen, het spel met de ruimte wordt daarin soms
letterlijk opgevat door ze in de ruimte te plaatsen. Een dubbele realiteit en een spel
met onze waarneming is een terugkerend gegeven. Speelsheid is daarbij het uitgangspunt.
Mijn werk bevind zich in diverse collecties en ik exposeer in binnen- en buitenland.

Ruth Horstmanshoff
In my sculptures and installations, I explore rhythm, repetition and fracture lines – moments when the personal ruptures through the collective. As a Rotterdam-based visual artist, I work with thread, paper and clay to make tangible the tension between uniformity and individuality.
My work questions how we relate to the group: are we not all exceptions, while simultaneously longing to belong?
Through repetitive forms, I create an apparent order in which small shifts and imperfections reveal the individual. Within that subtle or sharp rupture, the work begins to speak about who we are – togheter and apart.

I’m just writing this for therapy, don’t criticize me. No alien is accompanying me. This is what they call ‘alone’ as I don’t see, anyone who understands this.
My arts comes from me being a vegan, a woman, having certain emotions, is exploring the field of Spirituality, the field of Justice, the world inside my belly.
Why do I put it out here? ‘Cause this society can use some broken mirrors.

In her assemblages there is also a playfulness and free association. Reminiscences
of a primal feeling in search of deeper layers in time, in order to connect.
‘Vera Electra’ also makes murals in her home town Rotterdam. Participation /
community art is a challenge to bring art to the public and make them see their
surroundings in a new fresh, open and active way. The awareness that we make
our own surroundings works positive.
