Collective Investigation” with Matthew Bakkom

Join us for a demonstration of the method of Collective Investigation. This creative activity is a means by which groups can explore collections of printed material together through a simple set of steps. Developed by artist Matthew Bakkom and presented at art spaces and libraries in the United States and Europe since the early 2000’s, Collective Investigation offers participants the opportunity to discover shared affinities and poetic connections through the simple steps of Reduction, Investigation and Presentation. The subject of this evening’s demonstration will be the collection of the Huis Der Zotheid and will result in both an informal performance and printed document.

Practices Across Generations: A Cultural Dialogue

Practices Across Generations: A Cultural Dialogue is an encounter between cultural
voices of different ages and backgrounds—artists, poets, writers, or designers—who reflect not
only on their visions and experiences, but also on the practices, processes, and methods that
give form to their work. The conversation explores how creative practices evolve over time,
and how traditions, tools, and personal approaches both differ and resonate across
generations.
